President – Teresa Dotson – (tdotson5@frontier.com) - Yates Baptist Association – Durham, NC

Teresa Dotson grew up in the small town of Galax, VA, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at age 6. Even though she knew in her heart she was saved, at age 13 she realized something was missing. At a special music presentation, she walked the aisle, rededicated her life, was baptized and began “actively” serving the Lord in her church. She was asked to serve as church pianist the following summer and she has been serving in the Music Ministry ever since. She also taught children’s Sunday school, led the children and youth choir and at age 16, volunteered as Church Secretary for 7 years, before getting married and moving to Durham, NC.

Teresa worked at Duke University for 9 years and then quit to be a stay-at-home mom after her two sons (Cory and Ryan) were born. She went back to work when the boys started school at Bethesda Christian Academy where she taught Kindergarten and gave piano lessons. She also served as the Music Director/Pianist and Church Secretary at Lakewood Baptist Church in Durham for 15 years.

Teresa currently serves as the Administrative Coordinator for Yates Baptist Association in Durham where she has worked since 2006. Teresa is a member of Lowe’s Grove Baptist Church in Durham where she serves as the Music Director, Pianist/Organist.

Teresa’s oldest son, Cory, has served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. He and his wife Lindsay are stationed in Tacoma, Washington. Ryan is a junior at Guilford College in Greensboro studying Business Law.

Teresa strives to serve the Lord in everything she does and fully relies on His grace and goodness to make it through each day. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.

First Vice President - Deborah Richardson - (secretary@aberdeenfbc.org) - First Baptist Church, Aberdeen, NC

Deborah is the secretary and also the organist/pianist at First Baptist Church, Aberdeen. She has served there 39 years as organist/pianist and 37 years as secretary. Deborah and her husband, Larry, have four married sons and eight grandchildren. The oldest son, Keith, is a chef and lives with his wife and daughter in Charleston, SC. The second-oldest, Eric, is a missionary with the International Mission Board and serves with his wife Melissa (and their two children) in Southeast Asia. The other two sons (twins) and their families live in Monroe, NC--one is a bi-vocational Minister of Young Adults at a Baptist church in Monroe and the other is VP of Operations for a creative advertising agency in Monroe.

Besides Deborah’s involvement as a part of the church staff, she also serves with her husband as League Directors of their Upward Basketball/Cheerleading league, which serves 275 children in their community this season in Kindergarten through 8th grade. She also volunteers as a music director for the preschool choir at First Baptist, and Larry teaches a Sunday School class and leads the men’s Bible study every week.

Since 1990, Deborah has been a part of the NCBSA. Throughout the years, she has served as conference pianist, as a member of the Nominating Committee and Advisory Board, as President-Elect in 2001-02 and President in 2002-03 and 2003-04. It was through attending one of her first NCBSA conferences that Deborah realized that her work at First Baptist was her “call to ministry.” She feels blessed that God has given her the opportunity to serve in a leadership position both in her church and in the NCBSA.
